Arizona State update
The Aztecs opened their season with a split of a home series with UMass-Amherst over the weekend, winning Friday’s game, 5-3, and losing on Saturday, 4-2.
Offense
Five player scored goals Friday, including junior forward Louie Rowe, who added three assists, and senior forward Dylan Hollman, who chipped in two helpers. Three defensemen also had goals in UMass series – Joey Raats, Brinson Pasischnuk and Jakob Stridsberg. The Aztecs generated 30 shots in the win but 24 in the loss. Rowe’s five points are tied for fourth in the nation and Hollman’s four are tied for 11th.
Defense
Sophomore goaltender Joey Daccord started both games and emerged with a .885 save percentage and 3.04 goals-against-average. ASU has killed off all nine penalties it has taken so far.
