Air Force’s offensive struggles continued, particularly on the power play, as the Falcons dropped their fifth consecutive game, 2-1, to Holy Cross on Saturday night at Cadet Arena.

Austin Schwartz scored a shorthanded goal for the Falcons (6-10-2, 2-7-1 Atlantic Hockey), who managed just two goals all weekend against Crusaders goalie Jason Grande (27 saves). The goal was Schwartz’s third of the season, matching the sophomore’s total from all of last season.

Guy Blessing made 15 stops for Air Force, which surrendered the game’s first two goals, just as it did during Friday’s 4-1 loss.

The Falcons went 0 for 6 on the power play one night after going 1 for 8. They have tallied just 14 goals in their past eight games.

They’ve also put themselves in a tough spot in Atlantic Hockey. They’re in ninth place, four points behind Canisius, in the league in a season in which only the top eight teams make the postseason tournament. There is plenty of runway remaining, but the Falcons will have to rediscover their scoring touch over the upcoming Christmas break.

Alec Cicero and Tyler Ghirardosi scored for Holy Cross (5-12-1, 4-7-1).
